Due to the deployment scenario, the legal framework conditions and for reasons of economy, a ship is to be provided in the project by a shipping company on a non-exclusive basis, but with priority right of use. The providing company is thus responsible for the required crew and takes care of all maintenance and repair tasks. This is more economical than operating a vessel under the project itself. The test ship will be equipped with the necessary components very early in the project, which will remain on board throughout the project. Initially, the ship will be operated in regular mode and will be used to collect data: for WP 6100, the reliability of the data link; for WP 5000, the sensor information for the state of navigation; for WP 4000, the traffic situations that occur in practice. As soon as the developments in these work packages have reached the corresponding progress, the ship will then be used for subsystem tests and finally for field testing in the test field.
