Vessel measurement data
The data collected in work package 3200 on board of the test vessels and measurement platforms will be provided on a central server of the BAW. This includes the measurement data of all relevant sensors such as GNSS, inertial measurement system, engine and propulsion data, AIS, radar/chart system, mobile phone coverage etc.
The transmitted data are continuously and automatically checked for errors and plausibility and made available in cleaned form on the central BAW server. The error and plausibility checks are carried out in coordination with the project partners involved. An important aspect resulting from the plausibility check of the measurement data is the maintenance of the operational readiness of the measurement platforms over the entire project period. In case of implausible, erroneous measurement values, the sensors on the inland vessels used as measurement platforms are changed during normal operation (WP 3200). This requires close cooperation and intensive scheduling with the shipping companies and skippers.
In contrast to the test or demonstration vessel, no systems for automation or remote control are installed on the measurement platforms. But they collect continuously highly accurate measurement data from typical inland vessels in normal operation as well. These data include the position and attitude of the vessel (heading, loading depth, pitch and roll), for which a two-antenna GNSS solution and cargo sensors are required (cf. paragraph 4), as well as sensors on the propulsion and steering gears. The operation of the measurement platform will take place over the entire duration of the project, resulting in a wide range of data to describe the dependence of the driving dynamics on the loading depth and the changing water depths. These highly accurate measurement data describe the driving dynamics of inland vessels and, in addition to the flow data from WP 4200, are an important basis for the calibration and validation of the driving dynamic manoeuvring models (WP 7000 and 8300) and thus enable a forecast of the lane widths along the statistically determined trajectories (WP 8200) for the foreign vessels and for the own vessel with the required precision.
Currently, the BAW is operating other inland vessels as measurement platforms, whose data can also be used for this project. With the upgrading of a coupled vessel as a measurement platform, high-precision measurement data should also be obtained for the type class “pusher vessel” or “coupled vessel”.
